 Learning Outcomes

    The student learns/knows:

  • How soils and substrates are composed and how to use them
  • Identify plants, assess their quality and use plant catalogues or cultivation instructions
  • How to care for, use and maintain machines, equipment, tools and structural installations
  • Detect damage to plants and carry out plant protection measures
  • What must be observed when harvesting and using plants and plant products
  • Transfer execution and planting plans to the building site, how to set up and clear it
  • Dig and secure trenches and pits and how to lay drainage pipes
  • Produce protective, sealing, load-bearing and drainage layers, e.g. for outdoor facilities or greening of buildings
  • Build water installations, especially ponds, basins or watercourses
  • Prepare sites for plants and carry out planting

 Focal Points and Tasks

    The student develops their understanding of:

  • Preparing and planning work, procuring materials
  • Preparing and setting up construction sites
  • Taking measurements of machining areas according to drawings and plans and delimiting the areas
  • Creating outdoor facilities
  • Laying out lawns, planting perennials, shrubs, flowers and trees
  • Digging up trees, perennials and other plants, cutting them in and storing them until new planting, cutting down trees, clearing stumps
  • Set up seating, sports and play equipment, building fences, pergolas and screens
  • Fortifying and paving paths and squares, building walls and stairs
  • Building and planting water basins, excavating and sealing water bodies, creating banks
  • Caring for and restoring trees
  • Carrying out irrigation and drainage measures (creation of drainage systems, watering, fertilising and cutting lawns, shrubs and flowers

 Learning outcomes common to all professions

  • Health and safety at work - observes health and safety rules and SOPs
  • Professionally oriented foreign language - improved ability to use a foreign language (English/German) in the execution of tasks and the ability to formulate short and comprehensible statements to communicate in the workplace
  • Personal and social competences - develops a culturally and ethically sound approach to working with others in a company, increased creativity and consistency in their actions, copes with stress, responsibility and assigned tasks
  • Organisation of work in small teams - increased ability to communicate and work collaboratively with colleagues, organise work in a team

  • Our internships take place in small groups under the guidance of qualified and experienced staff
  • The internships are scaleable - depending to the knowledge of participants from different classes
  • According to the length of stay the internships can be customized and combined
  • Our internships can be funded by Erasmus programme - open for all member states of the European Union
