The Schladitzer See lies in the north of Schkeuditz. The water surface of the flooded brown coal open-cast mine extends over 220 hectares. With its "Biedermeier-Beach" it is a popular bathing lake and centre for outdoor and water sports. The ALL-on-SEA water sports centre and a holiday resort with bungalows and yurts are popular destinations throughout Germany.

Well-connected Schkeuditz

With its location between Leipzig and Halle, the city of Schkeuditz played a role in infrastructure and traffic from an early stage. As early as 1840 Schkeuditz was connected to the railway line from Leipzig to Magdeburg. The Schkeuditzer Kreuz, the nearby junction of the A 9 and A 14 motorways was the first motorway junction in Europe wich was built in the familiar cloverleaf form. Leipzig/Halle Airport offers an important locational advantage. Its two runways are suitable for intercontinental flights.

Since 1950 Wehlitz belongs to the city of Schkeuditz. The town in the district of Nordsachsen is the third largest town in Saxony with around 18,000 inhabitants. Around the market place in the centre of the city you can find restaurants and shops, further food markets can be found on the way there. Schkeuditz also has a toy museum and a planetarium.
